EVERYBODY LIKES BUTCH
Everybody Likes Butch (Wabi-Sabi) is a 7x5 work on paper. A found, damaged, b&w photo booth image is blown up, cut out, hand-colored (prismacolor markers, paint pen) and mounted on a 1947 children's book cover. It is rubber stamped with the wabi-sabi symbol and is part of my wabi-sabi series. A definition of wabi-sabi is on my web page.
The book Everybody Likes Butch by Bernice Bryant (1906-1976) was published in 1947. Bryant was a Missouri-born author of children's books including P'S and Q's for Boys and Girls. Butch is part of the sexual identity discussion. What does it constitute? And to whom does it apply. How elastic an identifying term is it?
