HOW WE SEE GHOSTS
HOW WE SEE GHOSTS is a 7x6 work on paper. A 1902 illustration from a book on phrenology is appropriated, enhanced (paint pen) and overlaid on a cloudy background. The original captions were in English and translated for the French edition. "Comment nous voyons des espirits" translated loosely is "how we see ghosts." Vaught believed the ability to see ghosts resides in the upper part of the brain. His Practical Character Reader and its diagrams were meant to "acquaint all with the elements of human nature."
