THE FIVE P M COCKTAIL MOUSE
Most people used to leave work at five and most bars opened then for the cocktail hour. Like cocktails themselves, the cocktail hour dates from the 1920s. East Coast society women needed to fill the span between tea, dinner, and evening fun. Thus, 5-7 became the cocktail hour.
Ah, but some ladies and gents wondered why the hell wait for five! Start whenever. After all, they reasoned, in Seattle it might be only 2 o'clock but it's 5 in Boston. And so the idea behind the drinking expression, "Itâs 5 oâclock somewhere" took root.

The words outlived Skeleton and even became a popular hit song by Jimmy Buffett. And luckily for drinkers, it always is 5 somewhere. Put my print in your home bar as a reminder, and drink a toast to five o'clocks everywhere.
