CATHOLICISM KATZ AND KIDS
CATHOLICISM KIDZ AND KATZ is a digitally created, signed art print in an edition of ten. It is a response to the Popeâs suggestion that people focus less on pets and more on getting busy and making kids. To do otherwise is selfish. âToday,â he said, âwe see a form of selfishness. We see that some people do not want to have a child. Sometimes they have one, and thatâs it, but they have dogs and cats that take the place of children.â
Pet keeping he said was âa denial of fatherhood and motherhood and diminishes us, takes away our humanity. We lose the richness of fatherhood and motherhood, and it is the country that suffers.â
Pet lovers of the world rose up in anger at his words. Some threatened to become Raelists. Or Episcopalians.
Climate change and the world's current state are perhaps better causes of birth decline and what he calls "our Demographic Winter." The future gives procreators pause, not goldfish and hamsters. I might add, celibacy doesnât help produce babies either. But I digress.
A couple of years ago Francis said choosing not to have kids was âanother phenomenon of cultural degradation.â Yikes. How about child abuse, hunger, and corruption for real degradation?
Any who, the Pope is shown in this work with his official shield. It has the Latin words miserado atque eligendo. To very VERY freely translate the Latin, it loosely means , choose happiness whether itâs with human kids or really lowly pet goat kids. The logo is under the coat of arms. Baby Jesus is shown to the upper right of the Pope. The pissed off cat on the bottom right is named Henry the Eighth. She used to be Henrietta. Her owner controlled the pet population at her expense.
